Kruger NP.. well a bit of it.
after a quick 1500kms we arrived at Kruger National park, the park of parks.
we had a slight delay on our shipping container so had gained a few days. I posted up on the Overlanding fb group about where to go around the kruger NP and got some great help ( apart from a Mr grumpy powell who suggested we should have stayed on the coast)
well we chose correctly.. a nice 36 deg c up north 🙂
we entered the NP at Kruger gate, and before the gate is a bridge and we had a great view of elephants playing in the river.
we then booked in at the gate and found that all camping was full in the entire park but for 38£ we could have a cabin at Pretoriskip camp. Ok we went for it and drove into the park, we saw a couple of Giraffes straight away, we had high hopes for animal sightings, well after 50km. nothing but at least the water pump decided it had seen all it wanted to see and chucked out its bearing along with all the water..
great , what do they say at the gate ‘DONT GET OUT OF THE CAR’
I let the engine cool a bit and then realised that we were downhill to the camp. so we coasted in.
not the nicest camp I can see why it had vacancies.
anyway, to cut a bit of the story out, I got a lift to town in a truck ( with Dogger on the back) collected a water pump, went to a campsite, spent 50 mins fitting it, and the next day we went back into the Kruger park at one of the south gates. we wanted to see rhinos
Not rhinos, but at least its wildlife,
also on the edge of the very wild park are these nice houses and lodges
we trundled out of the park, due to everything being booked we couldn’t get up north in the time we had and only being allowed in the park during daylight
Milly decided it was time to wash the bedding so we found a ‘forever resort, not far away that had washing facilities called Badplass . they are bit a bit like center parks in the UK.
two days, nice sun and a heated outdoor pool, it’s going to be hard going back to the UK
